Kapil Dev: 175 (138 balls) vs zim in 1983 world cup
the African side had now reduced to India to 17 for five and back in pavilion were the top five Indian batsmen. On a lively wicket, Indian captain Kapil Dev launched an incredible counter-attack in deep crisis. He added 60 with Roger Binny, 62 with Madan Lal, before adding an unbeaten 126 for the ninth wicket with Syed Kirmani. While the other batsmen played the supporting hand, keeping wickets intact, Kapil bludgeoned his way to an unbeaten 175 off just 138 balls, in an innings where he belted 16 fours and six sixes.
India finished with 266. Though his strike-rate read 126.81, Kapil’s was a calculated and controlled knock. Curran, who had picked up three wickets, was desperate to out shadow Kapil’s heroics and looked set to win it for his team with the bat but the spirited India didn’t let their captain’s efforts go down the drain. India managed to win the closely fought contest by 31 runs and a week later, the World Cup
Gary Lineker (1984-1992, 80 caps,48 goals)
England has arguably not produced a more natural converter of chances than Lineker, who retired from international football in 1992 just one goal shy of Sir Bobby Charlton's England record. The now-Match of the Day presenter had a habit of finding the net at the World Cup, so much so that he was the tournament's leading goalscorer in 1986 with six goals and is still the only Englishman to have won the Golden Boot. He followed that up by scoring four more times in 1990, taking his overall total in World Cups to 10 - a tally only six players can beat. He was equally prolific at club level, scoring goals on a regular basis for Leicester City, Everton, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Nagoya Grampus Eight.
Franz Bechenbauer (1965-1977, 103 caps, 14 goals)
Ordinarily, a player with Muller's goalscoring record would top this selection, but it goes to a man that mastered the sweeper position - Beckenbauer. Tactically aware and comfortable in possession, there are few that would argue against the 78-year-old being branded the best defender to have ever played the game. Having been a part of the German side that finished second and third at World Cups in 1966 and 1970 respectively, 'The Kaiser' finally got his hands on the trophy in 1974. Then, in 1990, he became only the second man to win the World Cup as both a player and manager when he guided the Germans to success in Italy. Like many Germans of that period, the majority of his success came with Bayern Munich, who won four Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokals and three European Cups during his time with the club.

Wilfred Rhodes' 4204 First-Class Wickets
Like Jack Hobbs, Wilfred Rhodes played in a less strenuous era, such that it was possible for him to bowl his slow left-arm spin for England well into his fifties. 4204 career wickets is a testament to his longevity in the game, although you don't set this kind of record without being competitive. To be sure that Rhodes' record will never be topped, you need only look at Muttiah Muralitharan, who took roughly half as many wickets in a twenty-year career.

cris gayle's 100 run in 30 ball in IPL 2013
In the early days of Twenty20 cricket, back in 2004, Australian Andrew Symonds bludgeoned a hundred for the English county team Kent off just 34 balls. That record stood until IPL 2013, in whichChris Gayle's 175 not out for Royal Challengers Bangalore came off an incredible 30 balls. It was the fastest hundred in the history of top-level cricket and also beat Brendon McCullum's seemingly unbeatable Twenty20 high score of 158 not out. 200 by a single player in a Twenty20 match now looks achievable, but a century off 30 balls? That's purely astonishing.
This article was updated on 28 April 2013 to reflect that the previous record at number ten, Brendon McCullum's Twenty20 score of 158*, had fallen.

Don Bradman's 99.94 Test Career Batting Average
In 80 Test cricket innings, Don Bradman -- aka 'The Don' -- scored his runs at an average of 99.94. The next guy on theTest batting averages list managed a tick over 60. We can do all sorts of mathematical comparisons with these numbers but they would all show one thing: Bradman is the best batsman the game has seen. That Test average of 99.94 is a number you need to know, a kind of shorthand for Bradman's exceptional talent. Just for good measure, his overall first-class average of 95.14 is unlikely to be beaten either.

Amazing facts about MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni has been a prolific limited-overs batsman for India. His exploits with the bat have been earned him the tag of the ‘best finisher’. He is also the most successful captain that India have ever had. But of late he has received a lot of criticism for not performing to his potential. Despite a dip in form, Dhoni has managed to retain his top-10 ranking for batsman in ODIs and he has remained in the top-10 for the last 9 years – 2006 to 2010. Players come and go, have good or bad form, their rankings go up and down but Dhoni is one who is beyond this logic. Here are his rankings from 2006 to 2015: 2006 – 2; 2007 – 7; 2008 – 9; 2009 – 1; 2010 – 1; 2011 – 5; 2012 – 4; 2013 – 4; 2014 – 6; 2015 – 8; Recent – 6

India aim No. 1 ICC Twenty20 International ranking
India will have a chance to climb to No. 1 ICC Twenty20 International ranking when they take on Australia in the three-match series, starting from Tuesday (January 26).
India will play their three games against the hosts in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney and will have to win the series 3-0 to climb to the top spot. Australia too have a chance to climb to No. 1 and will need to win the series 2-1.
India are currently ranked No. 8 with 110 points and a 3-0 win will take them to 120 points, two points clear of West Indies, who are currently the top ranked T20I side in the world.
After their impressive 2-1 series win at home over Pakistan, New Zealand have climbed to the fifth spot ahead of South Africa and Pakistan. Kane Williamson, who was leading the side in place of Brendon McCullum, too had an impressive series and scored 175 runs in the three games. His performance helped him break into the top 10 for the first time and he now holds the sixth spot in the ICC T20I batsmen ranking, with Aaron Finch occupying the top spot.
Zimbabwe's series-leveling 2-2 win in Bangladesh has cost the hosts who slipped to the 11th position behind Scotland and Afghanistan. Hamilton Masakadza's unbeaten 58-ball 93, that helped Zimbabwe register an 18-run win in the final game, took him to the eighth spot in the batsman's list, just behind Chris Gayle.
Meanwhile, in the ICC rankings for One-Day Internationals, India currently occupy the second spot and need to win the fifth and final ODI against Australia to hold that spot. A 5-0 loss, however, will push them to the third rank.
