India climb to No. 1 spot in ICC Twenty20 rankings




Indian cricket team climbed to the top spot in the ICC rankings for Twenty20 Internationals by virtue of their 3-0 whitewash of Australia in the three-match series concluded in Sydney on Sunday (January 31).
India, who are also leading the rankings table in Tests, overtook West Indies to reach the top rank in the shortest format with 120 rating points, two more than the Caribbean unit. Sri Lanka, ICC World Twenty20 defending champions, are currently ranked third.India have hit top form in the T20I format ahead of the World Twenty20 to be held at home in March-April. Winners of the inaugural championship in 2007 in South Africa, this will be India's best chance to add a second trophy to their cabinet.England, with 117 rating points, are fourth in the charts, ahead of New Zealand (116), South Africa (115), Pakistan (113) and Australia (110). Afghanistan (80) and Scotland (66) round up the top-10.
